RECREATIONAL Program: Our in-house recreational teams play against other Green Hornet teams within their respective age groups throughout the winter. We field teams in the following divisions: 1st–2nd grade, 3rd–4th grade, 5th–6th grade, 7th–8th grade, and 9th–12th grade.

For our youngest players, we also offer a Kindergarten clinic-style program focused on skill development through practices, with one or two scrimmage games at the end of the season. Practices and games for all recreational teams take place at local Severna Park schools.

No specialized equipment or prior experience is required to participate—whether as a player or coach. All that’s needed are basketball shoes, comfortable practice attire, and the desire to learn, compete, and have fun!

TRYOUTS for Select Basketball: Selection for the Girls’ Select teams is determined through a tryout process held in mid-October, immediately following the close of on-time registration. To be eligible, players must be registered prior to the deadline. Depending on the number of participants, there may be multiple teams formed within each age group.

Players who register for Select but are not placed on a team will have the option to join an in-house recreational team, receive a program credit, or request a refund. All Select teams are organized by age in accordance with county league guidelines, which base eligibility on the player’s age as of September 1.

We strongly encourage all players to consider trying out for the Select program as an opportunity to further develop their skills and experience a higher level of competition.

RECREATIONAL Basketball Program: Our Girls In-House Recreational Basketball program offers local girls in grades 1–12 the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game in a supportive community setting. The program emphasizes the development of fundamental basketball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a competitive yet fun environment. Our focus is on building confidence, fostering a love for the game, and ensuring every player has a positive experience on the court.

RECREATIONAL Program Evaluations: Evaluations for the Girls Recreational Basketball program will begin in early November. The specific schedule for 7th–8th grade teams will be posted as soon as it becomes available. To ensure balanced and competitive teams, evaluations are mandatory for all players in this age group.
