GREEN HORNETS FOOTBALL REGISTRATION INFO

Football Registration & Team Availability

Our program is limited by field and equipment constraints. We can field approximately 15 teams of 22 players each.

  • The goal for our program is to strive for the most competitive teams possible, however as registration numbers continue to rise we cannot physically supply equipment to every child signed up. Therefore, we cannot allow everyone to tryout.
  • Our selection process is limited to those players that are assigned an active status at time of registration. Active status is assigned to the first players to register for the predetermined number of roster spots available.
  • We realize but are willing to accept, that our level of competition may sometimes suffer, as higher caliber players may not even be given the opportunity to tryout due to late sign up.
  • Waitlists will start for each age/weight group after the predetermined number of roster spots is filled.
  • Players are only moved from the waitlist to active status if a roster spot becomes available in their respective weight/age group. Although it cannot be predetermined, it is common for players to drop out of the program prior to season start, thereby opening roster spots to move to.
  • Players moved from waitlist to active will be prioritized by exact date and time that sign up occurred and place of residence.
So different from tryouts of other sports, it may not be the best players that make team designations, but the best available from active registration. Unfortunately, we cannot evaluate football players in shorts and T-shirts. We need to see the players in pads during contact drills and game type scenarios.

This is not a new rule. It has always been stated as such during registration, Roster space is limited so please sign up early. Each year registration numbers increase and this rule has to be utilized more often.

In the event of a waitlist at an age/weight level, waitlisted players residing in the SP high school feeder demographic will receive first priority over players from outside our area. That is the only prioritization that will be offered. It is ultimately the parent's responsibility to register their child in a timely fashion.

If, after registration, it is determined all players at a particular level can be provided equipment, A TRUE TRYOUT process will be held.

Under those circumstances, there still is a roster limit per team.
In the selection process, cuts may be required.
