Please check the website for update. All communication will be done through the website.
- Age Range: The squads are broken down by age and cheer for their peers. Our date range is based on their age as of September 2, 2007. If your daughter was born between September 2, 2004 and September 2, 1998, then she would be a candidate for this division.
- Season Opening: Your season starts with a 5 day introductory clinic on motions, jumps, all Hornet cheers and chants, a dance and stunting, Monday July 28th to Friday August 1st. Practices begin Monday August 4th. This will be your foundation for the season. The camp will be Monday, July 28 through Friday, August 1 from 6-8 PM at Kinder Park on the fields between the concession stands and the baseball fields.
- Season Practices: Weekly practices begin the following Monday, August 4th and every Monday and Thursday thereafter at Kinder Park from 6-8. We will move indoors by mid September as follows: 8 & Under's at Severna Park Elementary, 6 & Under and 12 & Under Select at Jones Elementary, and 14 & Under Select at Oak Hill Elementary, 10 & Unders is to be announced.
- Gear:We provide you with the uniform, skirt & shell. We would greatly appreciate your input on sizing so that we can be sure we have an appropriate size for each athlete. Please go to www.cheerdeals.com/size_charts.htm and measure as requested. It is a bit of work, but worth it for the fit of your child's uniform. We arrange for the purchase of a warm-up and gym bag decked out in Hornet colors for when the times get colder. You will be presented with the order forms by September 1st; SPGH does not profit from this in anyway.
- Games: Games begin the weekend of Labor Day and run through November 1st. If your team makes the playoffs they will run until Thanksgiving Weekend. We have one game a week either on Friday evening, anytime Saturday from 9 am - 8 pm or on Sunday between 9 am and 8 pm. There are the occassional Wednesday or Thursday night games, but they are rare. There are at least 10 football teams and 5 cheerleading squads. Your squad will be assigned 3 teams to support. If the size of your team permits and your coaches allow, you may split your squad on game days in order to cheer for more teams.
- Competitions: Your first competition will be a great day at 6 Flags on a Sunday in the first week of October. Your second competition will be in November or December at CCBC in Dundalk on a Sunday and that will end your season. The 10 & Under squad will continue on for a competition in January and February TBA.
- End of Season Festivities: Each squad has their own personal banquet. SPGH will pay for the cheerleader to attend, she will receive a trophy and a gift from me early on in the season.
- Fundraising: There is a one time fundraising requirement of all SPGH Cheerleaders. You will receive the forms in late August and then the delivery will be in mid September for Joe Corbi's. We ask for a $100 net from each athlete. There will be awards to the highest sellers.
- Summary: This is the perfect combination of both types of cheerleading, spirit enforcers and competitive appearances. The cost is $100.00 and includes the loan of the uniform, competition fees and a trophy. Please purchase a pair of all white tennis shoes with good support.....no platform or thick soled shoes.
I look forward to seeing you in July!
